TMJ Disorder

TMJ or Temporomandibular Disorder may cause pain in your jaw and the muscles that control jaw movement. Things that can trigger TMJ are gum chewing, clenching the jaw while sleeping, grinding the teeth while sleeping, misalignment of the teeth or jaw, poor posture, stress, and arthritis. Fortunately, Chiropractors are trained to help align the jaw through gentle manual and tool-assisted adjusting of the jaw, as well as provide muscle therapy to the jaw muscles. There are jaw muscles that go up the sides of your head that become tight and painful that your Chiropractor is trained to massage. There are also jaw muscles inside of your mouth near your back teeth that also become tight and Chiropractors are trained to provide (gloved) short duration muscle therapy to those areas as well as part of the treatment. This TMJ treatment is aimed to assist with alignment as well as relief from pain. You do not need to suffer with TMJ pain, misalignment, discomfort, and headaches that may be caused by these tight jaw muscles, your Chiropractor is here to help!
